Biography

Born in Riverside, California, Lisonbee’a artistic awareness developed as she grew up next to an orange grove, and was enthralled with frequent vistas of the ocean. She received a BA in Art and Design from Brigham Young University and an MFA in Drawing and Painting from California State University Fullerton. Formative sensibilities of California and Texas culture continue to inform her work in Utah. She has studied in workshops with top figurative painters in the US., including Steve Huston, Juliette Aristides, and Jon David Kassan. Lisonbee’s artworks have shown at the Elmhurst Art Museum, Coos Art Museum, Springville Museum of Art, Woodbury Art Museum, BYU Museum of Art, and Palm Springs Art Museum. Her paintings have received numerous regional and national awards, including a “Best of Show” from among 700 entries across North America. Lisonbee’s artworks can also be found in many private and public art collections. Grants have included the Utah Arts Council Established Artist Grant, and two grants which enabled her to study Italian art and teach painting in Italy. Recent solo exhibitions were at the Dougherty Arts Center in Austin, Texas, and Imprint Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon, with an upcoming tandem solo exhibition at St. George Art Museum in 2023. Gallery representation is with A Gallery/Allen+Alan Fine Art of Salt Lake City since 2006. Lisonbee has taught drawing and painting at colleges and universities in California and Utah, and most recently, at Texas A&M University. Her studio and mountain home is in Woodland Hills, Utah.
